Be a Community Partner
Community Partners & Sponsors
Through the financial support of donors, businesses, United Way, revenue from the Popcorn Sale, and our Endowment Fund, the Ozark Trails Council can deliver a quality program to more than 5,000 youth and volunteers throughout our 31-county area.
Why Give?
Be a part of shaping our nation’s future. The BSA program changes lives by providing youth with character development, citizenship training, personal fitness, and leadership skills they will carry forward into their adult lives. The values Scouting instills are just as relevant in helping youth grow to their full potential as in 1910 when the organization was founded.
“It makes me feel like I’m doing something worthwhile,” says one Scout. “The whole Scouting program is like that. I’m one part of something bigger.”
A Scout parent feels similar pride. “There are three kinds of people in the world–One who makes things happen, one who watches things happen, and the other who doesn’t even know what happened. So being a Scout, we’re ranking number one. We make things happen.”

Sponsorship and Partnership Opportunities
General Fund Giving
Your contributions help support the entire Ozark Trail Council.
We have nationally recognized summer camp programs that deliver the fun and excitement of Scouting. Over 1,300 youth attended Boy Scout Summer Camp, Cub Scout Resident Camp or Cub Day Camp in the Ozark Trails Council.
Camping properties include:
- Camp Arrowhead in Marshfield, Missouri
- Frank Childress Scout Reservation located near Diamond, Missouri.
- Cow Creek, situated on Table Rock Lake
- Plagens Conservation Area in Pittsburg, Kansas
The fees for the Ozark Trails Council camping programs are lower than other youth-serving organizations and remain low through Friends of Scouting support. Over $15,000 was awarded to Scout families to attend a camping program through the Council campership program. The Council provides free accident and liability insurance.
This coverage helps families, adult leaders, volunteers, and chartered organizations to enjoy the Scouting program with insurance coverage provided. We also provide training and support for adult volunteers and leaders. This includes basic and advanced training, safety training, and monthly Roundtable support to help unit leaders succeed. A Council service center provides the “behind the scenes” support of the program, keeping advancement records, providing support for unit leaders, and communicating the Scouting program to leaders through a monthly Online newsletter.
Friends of Scouting Fundraiser
This is the annual fundraiser of the BSA Program, with the money used to help fund the costs of Scouting throughout the entire Council Service Area. These costs can add up to approximately $182 per Scout per year. This includes the support and professional staff, youth recruiting, leader trainings and training materials, year-round camp facilities, and leader support materials, to name a few.
We fund some of these expenses through two types of campaigns:
- Community Campaign is held throughout every community by groups of local volunteers. They approach local businesses and ask for the support of Scouting in that community.
- Family Campaign involves presentations to every Scouting family during the Blue and Gold Banquet, Courts of Honor, or other parent-attended meetings. Volunteer presenters explain how Scouting is funded, distribute pledge cards, and explain how the families of Scouts can help.
Memorials
Contributing to the Ozark Trails Council is a thoughtful way to honor or memorialize a friend or loved one who valued and appreciated Scouting. For information on Memorial giving, please call 417-883-1636.
James E. West Fellowship
Named after the first Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of America, The James E. West Fellowship is a national recognition for those who contribute $1,000 or more in cash or securities to our Council’s endowment fund. The gift must be in addition to, and not replace or diminish, your annual Friends of Scouting support.
The award does not have to be in your name. Organizations or individuals may contribute an award in honor of someone such as an Eagle Scout, a Silver Beaver recipient, a significant Scout leader, or in memory of a departed loved one, business associate, or special Scouter.
The Heritage Society
The Heritage Society is our Council’s way of recognizing those who have made deferred gifts to the Endowment Fund. A Heritage Society member of the Ozark Trails Council is anyone who informs the Council in writing that they have made provisions in their will or other estate plans for a gift of $1,000 or more.
You may have already made provisions for the Council in your estate plan but have not yet informed us of your gift. If you have made a gift and have not informed us about it, we ask that you contact the Scout Service Center so that we can recognize you for your generosity, commitment, and example to inspire others to make a gift.
